Mathematicians won awards for dissertation and master-thesis

The dissertation Robustness Concepts for Knapsack and Network Design Problems under Data Uncertainty by Manuel Kutschka (previously at Chair II of Mathematics, currently at INFORM GmbH) has been honored by two different committees.

On March 4, 2014, the Telecommunication working group at the Institute for Operations Reserach and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) awarded Mr. Kutschka's work with the "2014 Doctoral Dissertation Award for Operations Research in Telecommunications".

Additionally, the Gesellschaft für Operations Research (GOR) announced that Kutschka's dissertation had won the "GOR Prize 2014 for Dissertations". The prize has been awarded on September 3, 2014, during the annual conference.

The GOR also honored mathematics graduate Sebastian Goderbauer for his Master’s thesis Optimierte Einteilung der Wahlkreise für die Deutsche Bundestagswahl (First reader, Prof. Lübbecke; second reader, Prof. Koster).
